People around me never forget to ask me what I want to do in the future or with my life. My mom asks me…

It’s a MAD MEN life… sort of.In celebration of Ad Week DDB Edmonton hosted our third annual student agency tours.  Putting our scotch and cigars away for a few hours, it was a full house as we toured more than 40 post secondary students around the agency, giving them a rare glimpse into our real Mad Men life.We hosted students from UofA, NAIT, MacEwan University, and Lethbridge College, representing all aspects of our industry — business, marketing, PR, and design—all with the common interest in advertising.  For many students the tour provided their first insight into how an agency actually works—something school might not be able to provide.  Students were toured through each of our departments, and DDBers from every department were enlisted to talk about their role within the agency and how they collaborate with others from creative brief to concept to execution.  As a way to keep these up and coming advertising professionals inspired about the business, we created this Tumblr page where they could find links to interesting industry publications and associations. The tour wrapped up with a nod to our DDB roots.  Hot dogs were served to all, giving us a chance to share the hot dog story.  A great way to end the day and a reminder of what DDB is all about.   Many of the students left saying they had a much better understanding of what an ad agency does and a better idea of the kind of roles they may want to enter into once they finished their education.  It’s pretty exciting, inspiring and rewarding to be able share our passion and hard work with the next generation of Mad Men and possibly future colleagues!

In celebration of Ad Week DDB Edmonton hosted our third annual student agency tours.  Putting our scotch and cigars away for a few hours, it was a full house as we toured more than 40 post secondary students around the agency, giving them a rare glimpse into our real Mad Men life.

We hosted students from UofA, NAIT, MacEwan University, and Lethbridge College, representing all aspects of our industry — business, marketing, PR, and design—all with the common interest in advertising.

Many of the students left saying they had a much better understanding of what an ad agency does and a better idea of the kind of roles they may want to enter into once they finished their education.

advertise-this:

Client: Volkswagen “The Fun Theory”

Agency: DDB

Credit to my dear friend Michelle, who posted this on Twitter like a champ.

Fantastic, fantastic, fantastic out of home branding. That’s all I have to really say about it. Volkswagen and DDB cannot stop the magic! The brand has such an incredible history with successful, innovative and above all creative campaigns and this is just another one. The digital tie-in with The Fun Theory website is awesome.

Totally reminds me of the movie Big. If only someone had managed to get “Chopsticks” going…
